There are 2,100 less parking spots at Shea this year because of construction on the new park. If you were out there Opening Day, did you find a place? Was the parking difficult? Did you discover a parking area you’d like to share? Any horror stories?

I am interested as I will be going to the game later.
Can always park at Mom’s and take the 7 in.
DO i have to leave 2 hours earlier ?
sigh
When I go to Shea i usually get there nice and early to tailgate under the Grand Central Parkway. It’s always a good time especially if enemy fans are present. I’ve never had a problem parking under there and have always found my car in 1 piece, plus you get to avoid most of the stadium traffic!
You have to get to Shea early, I got down to Shea at 10:30, parked under the grand central and had no problems getting in or out. I have been going to opening day for the past 27 years…I am always amazed at the folks who complain about the traffic and parking when they show up an hour before game time. And now with the new stadium, only rookie mets fans would get caught in the traffic. I used to park in section J-2, that is now around the spot 2nd base will be located at Citi Field. our old spot is gone forever, but the tradition will always continue!!!! Let’s Go Mets!!!!!!!!!!!
well i dont have a choice. i cant leave before 4:30pm.
my kids arent home yet.
:-(
Just a quick edit…
There are 2,100 FEWER parking spaces… (not “less” parking spaces.)
C’mon John, you’re a professional. (-:

You are right. (-:
I got there even earlier for opening day, at 9:30, and breezed right in. My old parking area was gone (as was the entrance to it), but the G-1 area was still there, so I went that way. It turned out fine. And they opened another area for leaving, which was even better than the old one.
