Six runs in the eighth have broken this thing open. There’s really no reason why Oliver Perez should come out for the bottom of the inning. It’s cold. He’s done his work, and a good part of that was running the bases.
He’s not. He’s out, giving up one run on five hits and NO walks with six strikeouts in seven innings.
Ambiorix Burgos is in. He pitched when the Mets routed the Cardinals the other night. Yup, he’s the Mets’ version of the Red Auerbach cigar.
Those that are left are booing. They just got on Chipper when a foul ball landed in front of him, but you could tell the wind took the ball. Chipper is no quitter. He just made a nice play in the hole.
