Bases loaded and Willie Randolph had a decision to make. Does in bat for Orlando Hernandez and try to break the game open, or does he let the pitcher hit for himself and come out for another inning?
He got the results of both when Hernandez doubled in two runs. Jose Valentin was thrown out at the end of the plate to end the inning. Mets up 4-0 and looking well. Now, we’ll see how much Hernandez might have winded himself running the bases.

I was thinking pinch hitter in that situation to give the mets some insurance runs. Hernandez still pitching in the 7th? He is on borrwed time. And now Rolen hits one out to left. Strong performance but take him out before he hurts himself.

I was at the game tonight and it was extremely satisfying to feel all the air come out of the stadium with each well-executed double play, especially the one where Reyes threw a laser to double up Eckstein. It was just awesome.
doubling up eckstein (from first or from home) has been one of my favorite parts of the last 2 games..
I really liked duque plunking him to start the game (freudian slip?) & then doubling him off right away!
