The Mets finalized their Opening Day roster by doing the following:
-Adding outfielder Lastings Milledge and Ambiorix Burgos. (They also made it official on David Newhan).
-Optioned Chan Ho Park to Class AAA New Orleans, which required Park’s approval because of his veteran status (over 11 years).
-Outrighted reliever Jon Adkins to Class AAA New Orleans, which means he’s off the 40-man roster. I confess, I didn’t think of this one.
-Announced would open the season in the minor leagues and start a game in the Florida State League, April 7, and rejoin the rotation, April 13.

Who gets demoted when Pelfrey comes up though?
Did Adkins have to pass through waivers in order to be outrighted? If so, then it would appear that they must have made this decision something like 72 hours ago, no?
I dont understand ambi at all..
Burgos will get the “jorgo julio/kid gloves” treatment, you have to assume…thrown in non pressure situations until his has full command of his stuff. -Then he gives our bullpen a different look that no one else could…
I dont understand the Adkins situation either. If someone is outrighted they are unprotected right? So does that mean a team would have to use their Rule V to get him and pay the Mets $50k? Im sure there has to be more to it than the money…
When will Pelfrey be officially sent down?
Adkins has to pass through waivers since he’s not on the 40 man roster. The rule V draft takes place in the off-season, and has nothing to do with waivers.
