Because Amby is a reliever and it won’t help him to start.
Because you stroke Park and throw him a bone even if it doen’t mean anything. They made a promise to him. This is symbolic.
It is also about face if ya know what I mean.

How about the Mets showcasing Park for a potential trade?
Not sure what we could get for him at this point, but I thought I would throw that out there.
I think Willie wans to see Park in one more outting before making his decision between Park or Burgos on the 25 man roster. They were supposed to have had a meeting about the final roster this morning. I guess there is one more test before the grades go out. I wouldn’t be surprised if Burgos pitches relief at some point today.
I would just stick Park in the pen and be done with it. Burgos can handle the closer’s role at New Orleans and be available once a chance is necessary.
I still feel that Burgos needs more work and it would be a mistake to put him on the major league roster and then use him in a game…I am not comfortable with his ability yet…he is way too inconsistent. And now it counts!
fully agree with Jeff. Burgos is our closer of the future and lets do the right thing with him and give him more time to develop. I also think Park will be real important if someone gets hurt. Milledge should also start in NO, so he can get his at bats in case Green fails. What we need is a power hitter off the bench, ala Rusty Staub.
How about the theory that this is a test for Park – an appearance at the last minute, just like it would be in a game situation if he were in the bullpen?
A lot of valid points being made. Burgos has options and should start in AAA. Park getting a surprise start is just the kind of scenario he may experience in season, that is a good observation. Also possible he could be traded. I personlly think he should be in pen and be ready to take over for Oliver, or Maine, or Pelfry if they are not effective .
BURGOS just came in and gave up a homer.
GIVE PARK THE JOB!!!!!
Choo Choo
hey Choo-Choo… You going to make another comeback? Lots of teams need catchers!
