-I talked with David Wright and he said it hasn’t been decided where he hits in the order. However, he does appreciate the theory he could see more fastballs with Jose Reyes on base.
Personally, I leave Wright alone. Why mix with the offensive chemistry you had last year? Paul Lo Duca’s main attribute as a hitter is being able to advance runners, and that’s taken away from him eighth. What’s he going to do, move a guy to second so the pitcher can drive him in? Also, if Lo Duca is that much an offensive liability, by hitting him back-to-back with the pitcher basically wastes that inning.
-Duaner Sanchez said he hasn’t made up his mind on surgery, but is leaning in that direction. Not that he really has a choice.
-Aaron Sele appears to have the long relief job with Jorge Sosa being optioned. You can read about Sele tomorrow in The Journal News. Sele pitched in a simulated game this afternoon.

What about batting Alou second, at least on days when LoDuca rests? He can be a bit of a hacker at times, but so can LoDuca. Both are very hard to K by today’s standards…
As for the regular lineup, maybe we were spoiled by last year, but the thought of a 6-7-8 comprised of LoDuca-Green-Valentin makes me nauseous…
To Bren (RE: lineup)
I would brace yourself to not getting the same production from Valentin next year. They really got lucky with him. The 6-7-8 you posted, followed by the pitcher is weak.
name another NL team with a better 6-7-8, it’s not that bad, loduca’s a good hitter, just doesn’t have a lot of pop, valentin is fine against righties, and easley should be fairly productive against lefties…if green’s hitting, he’s not bad at the bottom of the order, and if he’s not, millage or endy is fine there, stop worrying….
Hey John, just a whim really, but how do you think someone like Milledge say would fair as a hitter in the two hole? Obviously, Endy will likely bat second when he’s in the lineup, and I still think LoDuca succeeded enough last year to deserve the role again, but I was just wondering for wondering’s sake.
And PS, I am not GD’s alter-ego!
To John Delcos,
LoDuca batting 8th? That I can’t see. If he’s dropped in the lineup, I see him in the 6th or 7th spot. Though I wouldn’t be shocked if Randolph even puts him in 5 from time to time.
John,
I agree. Keep David behind Carlos.
A lot of people here really come hard at Lo Duca. He hit 318 with 160 hits in the #2. David hit 311 with 180 hits. He has more power and I like the pop in the middle of the lineup with someone in scoring position.
Oh. and it sounds as if Duaner is done.
Dave
This Wright thing is really about separating him from Alou in the batting order, so that opposing managers can’t bring in the lefty to face Beltran and Delgado, followed by the righty for Wright and Alou.
The easiest way to reconfigure the lineup would be to bat Wright clean-up and Delgado fifth.
the 6-7-8 part of the lineup isnt so bad if that amesome top of the lineup is creating a run or three every other inning. I can live with the alternating 1-2-3 inning, assuming that Wright in the two spot makes the top of the lineup click.
