Top of the fourth and the Mets are up, 2-0. Jose Reyes has three steals and has scored both runs.
The story, however, has been Oliver Perez. He took a hard grounder off his foot in the first, but stayed in and has pitched well. So far, two hits in three scoreless innings.
Milledge just doubled to lead off the fourth. Ben Johnson is up. He told me he hasn’t played his best this spring. Johnson grounded out, but it was a good at-bat in that he advanced the runner.
Willie Randolph said he’s starting to make not of little things, and that’s a positive.

3 bases!?!?
boy that kid can run.
i like it!
Ollie P hasn’t looked as good as last time, IMO. No strikeouts and a lot of long fly balls. He hasn’t exactly folded or anything, though. Which is good—it’s not all or nothing anymore.
To John (RE: Perez)
I agree. I think it is a good sign that he’s getting by without the strikeout. That also keeps his pitch count down.
I know you’ve been tepid on Ollie, John, but we’ve seen that he’s a competitor and in that sense the spring has been quite encouraging. Ollie looked stronger in the fifth with better pitch placement.
To DG (RE: Perez)
I agree with you. I think it is a very encouraging sign that he did this tonight without blowing hitters away. It shows he has the capability to get by without the heat.
