The Mets lost again and Willie Randolph wasn’t chipper at all. He let Chan Ho Park off the hook for a rocky start, saying “it was only his second start … I don’t take a lot out of that.’’
That’s fine.
When asked if the Mets’ record, now 4-9-1, bothers him, he said: “It doesn’t … as long as everybody is playing fundamentally sound.’’
Well, they aren’t.
As I wrote in The Journal News today, their ERA is high, they are leaving runners on base, and aren’t crisp in the field.
They are at roughly at the half-way point, so there is time. But, sometimes bad habits are hard to break. Maybe sensing that is what made Randolph a little agitated.

Good.
They need a kick in the pants.
One of the announcers were laughing at Green the other day for a loopy throw to home that did not get the runner.
OK. I feel the same way about the won-lost record. Fact is they’re trying lots of people for spots. And some of the infielders names I saw when I checked the boxscores. Who the hell are these guys? Tracy? Never heard of him? I’d like to see some more cuts-
real soon. I don’t give a sh- whether or not Adkins has options. If he can’t pitch effectively against a mix of major league talent and marginal players, he’s not gonna be good for us once the season starts—period. We can’t worry about holding onto every young arm.
