Lastings Milledge just went deep as I hit the send button on the previous post.
I was hoping you would mention the results of Julio Franco’s MRI so that I could reply with a zinger about how MRIs don’t always show damage on bionics.
When can we expect to see some more cuts? I suppose this spring is no different than in years past, but it’s a bit tiresome to see the Mets lose all these games on account of some guys who have no shot whatsoever to make the team.
I am happy that Newhan, Johnson and Green have seen so much time in the outfield of late, but shouldn’t Milledge be getting equal time? Since Franco is not well, wouldn’t it make sense to just have Green play 1B and let Lastings play RF?
Any insight into Johnson’s chances of making the team? Would you say that Newhan is pretty much assured a spot at this point?
To Chris in Japan (RE: In answer to your questions)
Cuts: We should see some more at the end of the week.
Milledge playing time: I don’t see where Milledge is being shortchanged. As of this morning he had 20 at-bats while Ben Johnson had 22 and David Newhan 23. That Johnson and Newhan are so close in at-bats says a lot. Depending on how many pitchers the Mets break camp with, a roster spot could come between Johnson and Newhan.
