March 09: Milledge sports new look

Posted by: John Delcos - Posted in Uncategorized on Mar 09, 2007

Lastings Milledge showed up today with a hair cut … No rows of any kind. Any closer and he’s be Carlos Delgado.

“I’ve got to get my grown man on,’’ was how he put the decision to change his look.

He’s done everything asked of him and more, but this was an off-the-field decision he made to help his image. This guy is making the effort. Whether he was told to or not doesn’t matter … he’s trying.

well gotta give him credit then… maybe he is going to be a professional after all. Glad to see it. ( i am a man of my word.. I will give him all the cr4edit in the world for trying , as long as he tries)

    Steve C. (RE: Milledge)

He looks it through my eyes.

  3. Steve C.

Then maybe there is hope. :-)

I cant say I’m sad to see the corn rows gone, I honestly never really liked them.

    Great reporting John.

Its great to hear Milledge is making the effort, it looks like he finally “gets it”.

I think the corn rows have nothing to do with anything but I agree it’s a plus that he thinks getting rid of them is indicative of a more business like, soldiering attitude towards baseball.

    Make it rain, Milledge.

I read something where he sees himself as an aspiring record producer. Carries an hooked up laptop and everything.

Also that he is trying to get Jose to put out a record.

    Two things:

I hope he doesn’t get distracted like other athletes do.
I hope he leaves Jose alone.

  7. Dep

    I heard that too Dave.

He’s convinced that Jose Reyes can be a musical superstar.

As long as they dont mess with that stuff during the season, i dont care. I dont mind if they put out a record in the offseason, its not like anyone will understand a word Reyes says anyways! ;)

  8. Steve C.

I cant understand half the team when they speak. low and fast. LMAO

  9. Dep

    LMAO Steve, very true.

I still like the story that Wagner, or some other met picther, couldnt understand what Castro wanted him to throw because he kept saying COOBA instead of curveball.

When you say any closer and he’d be Carlos Delgado, does that mean he went bald. WOW!

  11. John

John D, did you know that digital cameras go for real cheap, are easy to use, store tons of pictures, and hook up to your laptop for easy file transfer?

Pictures aren’t always worth a thousand words, but sometimes they are.

Watching Green has been nothing short of painful. The old baseball saying,”never fall in love with your players”,is the key here. Milledge is going to be the RF. He is what our future holds along with our other young developing players. Get off his back and let him be who he is. Can you imagine the Mets in a year or 2 with Reyes, Wright, Milledge, Beltran, Gomez, Carp, Martinez, Pelfrey, Humber etc. etc. We have finally seen the errors of our past…

  13. Cliff

Time to say good by to Green and hello to Milledge. He sounds like he has grown up in 6 months time. Great to hear.

  14. Steve C.

we used top call that haircut a ceasar not sure if its still called that..
i am watching the game now. its short.

    Great reporting John!

Now the only question is when YOU are going to cut that mop of yours? Or even put a comb through it for that matter?

  16. Brian in FL

Milledge showing up to camp a little early, and his attitude change are really good signs for this young man. Keep it up Lastings!

    LETS GO METS!

Green went 2-4 today? Let’s see what LM’s got in response. 6.5 mil is a lotta dough…

This is right here, in the present, not the future.
