Was just on the air with a radio station from Seattle that wanted to know what’s going on with your Mets. The conversation was mostly pitching related.
I go on these things a lot. It is when the East Coast stations call me when I’m on the West Coast. Evidently, they’ve never heard of time zones.
What’s worse is when they call and have no idea what they want to talk about. They just need somebody to fill time. I remember one station wanted to talk about the Knicks. When I told them I covered baseball their response was “well, have you seen them on TV?’’
Serves them right … I talked about Frazier, Reed and DeBusschere and he had no clue as to what I was saying.

john you sure you werent born in brooklyn?
So what do you think of the NY Football Giants offseason moves?
Seriously who do you think is having a better spring Johnson or Milledge?
dave. he’s pitching 60 mph fastballs. ;-]
Milledge is having a much better spring than Johnson.
its not even close.
I get happy for Ben Johnson when he doesnt fall down in the outfield. he needs AAA time badly. talented but needs experience.
Milledge is raking.
yeah.
didn’t you hear? when perez stubs his toe i slide into #5 behind my buddy chan ho.
Dave
Hey Dep,
You realize that Ben Johnson is hitting near .500 this Spring right? (At least he was before yesterdays game, dunno what he did) Milledge has not had as good a spring at the plate. But you’re right, Johnson needs defensive help.
Johnson has had like 3 hits that were either bleeders or bloops which will sure help that average
Milledge has been smoking the ball, hitting it hard every single at-bat. he’s had bad luck in terms of those balls being caught. I’ll take hard hit balls for outs in ST every time over bloops/bleeders for hits. those are luck hits.
I didnt mean to make it sound like Johnson was stinking at the plate, sorry if i did.
Milledge has hit the ball with authority and not always gotten lucky. For example, the play that kid made on him yesterday on the warning track. Johnson has not hit the ball nearly as well, but I think he’s had a fine offensive week.
This is why looking at AVG is often not a good metric for understanding how games have been played by real people on real diamonds…
