It’s Mike Carp today, but if something serious should happen to Carlos Delgado, the Mets don’t have a lot of great options.
Their first, if the injury is relatively minor, would be Julio Franco as it was last year.
Should Delgado be out for a substantial period of time, Shawn Green would move in from right field. Assistant GM Tony Bernazard said the team wouldn’t be inclined to dive straight into the trade market.
Minor league prospects Carp and Michel Abreu just aren’t ready.
