What is your confidence level in the Mets’ bullpen? What is your biggest concern? Who will they miss most from last year, Darren Oliver or Chad Bradford?
I like the bullpen now. Of course we have to see what happens, but there seems to be a lot of quality there.

The Mets pen is the only part of the team that is a 9 or 10 out of 10 for me.
The group of players that they have, with Dirty, Mota, and Padilla already having big league success and not really in the discussion yet, along with guys like Burgos and Joe Smith on the horizon, the Mets could well have about 7 shut down righties by Sept. And Feliciano and Schoeneweis leave little to be desired from the left side. Wagner might be the weakest link, and he’s still one of the top five closers in the game.
It’ll be so nice knowing in a 5-5 game in the 5th that there is little chance the other team scores again.

The “submariner” as i call him. I loved to watch bradford pitch. Now Iwillhave to hate seeing that ball head towards the Mets. :-(
Other than that, lets see what these guys can do, sofar so good.

I think the bullpen looks pretty solid, esp when you consider that two strong elements will likely be joining it later (Sanchez and Mota). In the meantime, you have Wagner, Heilman and Schoenweis, all with excellent track records, Burgos and Smith who so far look pretty darned tantalizing, Padilla coming along pretty soon now, and then one of either Vargas or Sosa to be long man (I’d go Vargas based on what I’ve seen so far). Plus Adkins. That’s a lot of good-very good relief pitchers. I don’t think there’s another team out there with a stronger pen.

the Mets’ bullpen is very good right now. lots of solid arms floating around as a result of the massive effort to shore up the rotation.
as for who i’d miss most… at gunpoint i’d have to say Bradford (for his funk), but i don’t think either pitcher is going to be missed really.

I’m not concerned about the bullpen at all. I think it may be even better than last season if Wagner can dominate the 9th inning like he did in the past. With its incredible depth, I think the bullpen will be the best in baseball.

Fortunado is the guy they’re going to miss this year. And that’s unfortunate.

I am 100% confident with the bullpen. Not including suspensions and injuries, the bullpen should be:
Wagner
Sanchez
Heilman
Mota
Schoenweis
Feliciano/Vargas
Sosa/Burgos/Smith/Padilla
That’s no doubt the best ‘pen in the majors. My only possible worry is that they may get overworked. I agree that the Mets probably will not miss anyone in particular, but I think that if it’s anyone, it will be Bradford because especially if Feliciano and Vargas win the last two spots, the mets will be fairly left-heavy, four out of seven. In case someone thinks that I’m crazy, I’m pretty sure that Feliciano will make the ‘pen. The only reason that he wouldn’t would be if Vargas were to win the long man spot, Feliciano has a bad spring and the mets are worried about being too left heavy.

left adkins off the list and also forgot to say that the mets ‘pen is the best in the majors

also forgot to add williams, he’ll probably displace the long man when he comes back if he doesn’t take over one of the starting roles, though there is a small chance that he may not return to the majors

My biggest concern about the bullpen? Billy Wagner, of course. Didn’t he just say that he would be better this year than last because last year he didn’t feel well physically or mentally? Who can believe anything from a guy like this?
