I think the mets want to win this one ;-]
But where the hell is Endy?! Is green doing that much better?
I need start watching these games.
Endy will be there later..
Hey John, this is not the first time Willie put Dave in there at #2. What’s up with that? Is he really thinking about giving up his bat like that?
see what happens when you miss a few days Jose Valentin? you get booted down to #9 in favor of Julio “GIDP” Franco!
Steve—Green is still oh-fer-spring, but he deserves the starting chance to get his groove back. Milledge is impressing enough in his limited late game duty and away starts.
Dave—Dave is at #2 to get him more at-bats against the opposing starters/better players. no reason to think Willie will tool with the top of the line up at all this season.
Dave- How is David Wright batting second ‘giving up his bat’? He gets more at bats there. And since he has a higher OBP than anyone else but not as much power as Beltran or Delgado, that is the best place for him to hit. In this lineup, he is a table-setter.
yeah you dont want wright at cleanup. Beltran would cry like a baby. smirks
David W. gives up his bat because since Jose is supposed to go out there and steal bases there are times where you swing at a pitch just to get in the way of the catcher. Also you may hit to one side of the field or the other or try and hit a fly to move the guy over.
Dave is too dangerous of a hitter to be put in that position. Why would you want to take one of your power guys and make him be a setup guy for the guy on base? or the reverse. In the #2 slot I would figure a contact type light hitting guy is what you want. A single gets you first and third with no outs. A long fly still gets you a guy at second with an out. That was LoDuca last year. It worked out pretty nice. It set the table for Beltran to drive guys in.
