Closer Billy Wagner threw his split-finger change-up once today and liked that he kept it down and on the outside park of the plate. “I don’t want a sharp break,” Wagner said. “I want a little fade. I want them to hit it and put it in play.”
Wagner doesn’t recall the hitter exactly, but thinks it was Marcus Thames.
Wagner said he needs a new pitch to make his life easier, saying he needs more 1-2-3 innings.
This won’t be a pitch he throws all the time, but something to keep hitters from sitting on his fastball.
