Here’s the Mets’ order for their exhibition opener today against Detroit:
SS Jose Reyes
CF Carlos Beltran
LF Moises Alou
1B Carlos Delgado
C Paul Lo Duca
3B David Wright
RF Shawn Green
DH Julio Franco
2B Damion Easley
LHP Oliver Perez
aw come on…
Steve C. (RE: Endy)
I know, I know …. what can you say?
Next game we better see Thrilledge in there somewhere… Franco DH’ing.. come on
Looks like an opening day lineup…almost.
I wish we could see Beltran in the #2 spot all year. Move LoDuca down to 6 or 7, and this lineup is gold. (Of course we won’t see Franco DHing)
Beltran hitting second with Alou third? Interesting, and a hopeful sign. I don’t mind having his power in the 2-spot, especially since it’ll allow him to use his speed more, and his batting eye, especially vs. lefties, where he struggles a bit, and Alou is a monster.
Down 0-3 top of 2nd.
Looks like Perez has some work to do…
What is wrong with the lineup from last year?
LoDuca did well at #2. We now have moises protecting dave and if reports are right with Green fixing his bat you have a guy who can hit 280 with 20hrs at #7.
Its spring training…calm down.
As for Perez, it seems as if he is currently suffering from the same old problem of leaving the ball out and over the plate, even when he is ahead of the count. I am not concerned as it is obvious that he appears really rusty, but I was wondering about his apparent drop in velocity. He was throwing 88mp-84 fastball and a 76-72 mph slider when he should be throwing 4-8 mph faster on both pitches. I guess he really needs to stretch out his arm this early Spring.
