Carlos Beltran was scratched from yesterday’s intra-squad game with tightness in his neck and quad, but has been cleared to play this afternoon vs. Detroit said coach Guy Conti. Team is in a meeting now. Lineups haven’t yet been posted.
By the way, Gary Sheffield is expected to be a no-show today. Guess he’s in no mood to talk with the NY media.

can ya blame him? ;-p
Steve C. (RE: Sheffield)
Of course not. But Sheffield likes to give this song and dance that he’s a stand-up guy, but he only is when it is in his best interest. Waiting for the steroid hammer to come down on him.
Sheffield…Oy Vey. Listening to him in interviews he always struck me as not being the sharpest knife in the drawer and frequently sounding aggressively stupid. See last season’s whining about his Yankee multi-million dollar contract which he negotiated personally without the aid of an agent to save a buck. He’s the epitome of the “me’ athlete.
Remember when Sheffield almost killed that fan who threw beer in, I think, Boston?
Those were the days…
hey john you sound like me on TRASH-el LMAO
but i hear ya.. like my dad always said: “Class shows”
To Lister (RE: Sheffield)
I have never been a big Sheffield fan. He’s one of those guys who likes the sound of his own voice, and he really doesn’t have that much to say. He throws things out there just to be controversial, then in the same conversation he says something completely different.
