Injury related items:

  • Orlando Hernandez played catch this afternoon and said he’s improving. “I long-tossed. I feel better,’’ Hernandez said. Hernandez doesn’t know when he will throw off the mound.
  • Carlos Beltran was scratched with tightness in his neck and quad. He said he will be ready for tomorrow.
  • Since the game was to go only 2 1/2 innings, Willie Randolph didn’t play catcher Paul Lo Duca, saying, “why take the chance of him tweaking something?’’
