First things first, the Sandy Alomar team beat the Jerry Manuel team, 7-2.

- HR: Carlos Delgado (off Pedro Feliciano); Carlos Beltran (off Clint Nageotte); Jose Reyes (off Jorge Vasquez).
- Lastings Milledge (for Alomar Team) made a strong throw in the third inning to throw Fernando Martinez out at third.
- Key pitching lines:—Jason Vargas (Alomar Team) walked one, but didn’t allow a hit in one scoreless inning.—Jorge Sosa (Manuel Team) pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the first.—Ambiorix Burgos (Alomar Team) gave up a run and a hit, but continued to throw hard.

that’s great to hear delgado, coming off surgery, was able to go deep off a lefty specialist like feliciano. promising signs all the way around. thanks for the update, john.

How come this intrasquad game wasn’t on SNY? Not that I could have watched it.
I am so tired of hearing about Ambiorix Burgos throwing hard. He stinks. First outing and he is already giving up hits and runs…a sign of what is to come

The reason he’s a Met is he throws hard. His problem has been falling behind in the count to where the batter sits on his fastball. There’s few pitchers who can consistently throw fastballs by hitters, and Burgos isn’t one of them. He gets in trouble when he get the ball up because his pitches tend to flatten out.
