Shorter workout than normal today. Willie Randolph gave them a break before tomorrow’s intrasquad game.
Some things worth noting from the day:
- Mike Pelfrey was not pleased with his BP session today. “My command was off,’’ he said. “I was better the first two times. I was missing up and out. You’re going to have days like this.’’ Pelfrey is scheduled to start Saturday’s exhibition. * Jason Vargas and Jorge Sosa, both in the running for the spot as the fifth starter in the rotation, will pitch an inning tomorrow. The Mets like Sosa’s arm and ability to also work in relief. Randolph said a change of scenery could help Vargas.
- David Wright plans to call his friend Xavier Nady, who’s not feeling well these days in the Pirates’ camp. “I know he truly misses us and we miss him,’’ Wright said.
- A lot of players were huddled around the TV before the workout watching the NFL scouting combine drills.
- Orlando Hernandez is still on for playing catch Tuesday.

Any idea what time the intrasquad games start monday and tuesday??
Hopefully, Spring Training runs better than the lottery this morning for opening day & Subway series tickets. There are war stories on the mets forums, on some blogs and @ Metsgeek.
What’s up with the X-man?
Hope he gets better.
