The Mets would have been better off signing a guy like like Matt Stairs who has pop off the bench and making Franco the 1st base coach. I think it makes sense to have two vets in triple A with a possible rotation of 3 or 4 future Major league starters. I suspect that is also the reason why they brought in Alomar, Jr. I assmumed he was brought in to catch Pelf, Humber and Vargas in AAA with the possibility of coaching/managing in the organization in the future. We all know the philosophy that catchers make very good managers. That’s interesting.
