Pedro Martinez’s return to the mound won’t be as impromptu as his his visit to camp this afternoon. The buzz was Martinez would make an appearance.

Martinez said his rehab is going well, but he has no idea when he will pick up a ball.

“I’m going to be patient with this,’’ Martinez said. “I’m going to be ready to accept whatever happens.’‘

English translation. I am going to sit on my @ss and collect my money. do some hand motions throw a ball every now and then. I am not thinking about october cause i am getting paid.

Pedro is the last person who should ever be accused of laziness. He means that he will start throwing when the docs tell him he can, he doesn’t want to push it and have it backfire like last year.

Everyone knows that Pedro isn’t supposed to even be thinking about pitching until a few months into the season. So why is it that we have more dissatisfied and unhappy bloggers questioning Pedro’s work ethic? Unless you all want to see him start reaggravating his injury only to then shut it down for another half season (at which everyone will complain that he rushed his rehabilitation), I suggest that people chill out. Its amazing to see the polarity between fans who bitch and whine about Pedro rushing himself and those who bitch and whine about his “laziness”.

My thoughts on Martinez are I will believe it when I see it. I don’t think he’s lazy; I’ve seen him work. Sure, he’s a diva, but when you come down to it all great performers have to have some diva in them.

I am not counting on Martinez because his is a serious injury and the rehab process is long and hard.

Wow Steve C, quite a leap there. He’s going to go slow, so that means he is not going to do anything.

He has been doing a lot of rehab work to keep the rest of his body on shape. I suggest you read the paper every once in a while, you might learn something. There have been several stories of late about this.

Listen, i know all about rehab injuries etc. All i am saying is we went down this road with No Vaughn. Why should we bother even thinking he’s in the season. Just retire. take the money say thanx. good luck with 2007. Tom Terrific was smart enough to know that when he tried his comeback. Listen when the injury is bad enough why bother? you have made your millions. retire while you are still a winner and dont go out a whiner. Thats all i am saying..
