Here’s what Phillies pitcher Brett Myers had to say about your team and you guys:
“I hate the Mets … I want to beat them more than anyone else. What we need to do is make sure none of their fans get in our building. We shouldn’t sell tickets to Mets fans.”
That appeared in the Courier Post, a suburban Philly paper.

The Phillies have been one of the more embarassing organizations in American professional sports.
Curt Flood had plenty of reasons to not want to go there, and they weren't all related to his desire to stay in St Louis.

I was planning on attending a Mets vs Phillies game at Citizens Bank, and now I'm even more hyped and excited. I can't wait.
Brett Myers shouldn't give a crap about Met fans at Cit bank park. They are paying his buddy Burrell's bloated salary. I hate when classless athletes make proclaimation like this. I won't go into his personal life since I feel it's what it is, personal. I just think Brett Myers has some growing up to do. Nothing wrong with Myers saying he hates the Mets. Would you expect him to say he loves the Mets? Come on. It's exactly what you expect a firey player to say. Also, if you've been to any Phillies/Mets games at Citizen's Bank Park, you'll know the Mets, to their credit, bring in a very large group of vocal fans from up the Turnpike. It's only natural to hate them.
Mets fans may remember well the thorough beating they took last August when they lost something like 44-3. Pedro's line that day…1IP, 6 ER, 1,000 tears. Mets suck (by the way, since when do the Mets get to be the badasses of the East. They haven't been able to beat Atlanta either.)

Hey Shick—1. We remember the one game you beat on an injured Pedro. Nice job. Do you remember the 13 other times last year the Mets beat the Phils? Because yeah, we remember the one game you did really well in, but we also remember Beltran's 18th-inning homer, Maine's shutout on ESPN, Wright's game-ending double play, the three-game sweep in Philly in June, etc etc.
2. We were able to beat Atlanta this past season. Maybe you missed it but the Mets won the NL East by like 94 games in 2006.

it's about time an athlete said he hates his rivals. i'm sick and tired of them hugging opponents and joking around with them before games. the mets and phillies should hate each other. it'll make the rivalry all the more better.

Myers just gave a second interview to clarify his comments. He said he doesn't really hate the Mets, he just hates them the same way he hates "broccoli" or things like that.
