Orlando Hernandez was sent to New York to be examined after complaining of soreness in his upper neck area. General manager Omar Minaya said, “I’m not concerned … it’s more preventative than anything.”
The area is above the shoulder blades and Hernandez will be examined for a disk problem.
Will follow this up after Willie Randolph’s press briefing later.

Hey john:
Any word or evidence that maybe El Duque will calm down his pre-game stretching/running routine?
it seems like he's getting awfully fragile to be bending himself into a pretzel like he does.
Let's put a moratorium on Willie proclaiming El Duque as the best conditioned guy on the team.
Having said that, I hope he is not seriously injured. Not a good start.
To Dep (RE: Hernandez stretching)
That's an excellent question, one that will be asked when he gets back here. When you get to be his age – whatever that happens to be – you have to make adjustments in every area, including conditioning.
Thanks John.
We will be saying this a lot this spring, so get used to it. ;) You are the man!
well, we all knew this was coming. i personally just hoped it didn't come so soon. bummer.
You're right, Dan.
Season's over.
Well, it was fun while it lasted.
yeah lister the seasons over because of an unknown pain in el duque's back (rolls eyes), why don't you wait to see what the injury is before you start jumping off the bandwagon>?
Ha, I think Lister was joking Dave.
dave, go jump in a lake (winks fruitily). i was kidding, BRO (nods vigorously).
ugh (vomits partially in mouth). so many mets fans, so little wherewithal (boosts ego).
sorry lither hard to see sarcasm over a blog sometimes
we can still be bff as far as i'm concerned
who need el duque. i say him and pedro get a room .. let healthier playes pitch.
We need el duque. We need his low era and his experience of a team full of unproven talent.
John
How come the Mets don't have medical facilities that they trust in Florida to avoid missed time for travel? Seems like a no brainer. Or at least have the Dr.s they use in NY down for Spring Training?
Thanks,
CLM
