February 19: Beltran reports in good cheer, optimistic

There wasn’t even a “how was your winter?’’ question for Carlos Beltran. The first question out of the box was about taking that backdoor curveball with the bases loaded to end the NLCS.
Beltran called it “a nasty pitch … I saw it, I couldn’t do anything with it.’’
Beltran said he’s fine physically and can increase his numbers if he stays healthy. If given the option, he’d trade 40 homers for a .300 average. Of course, if he hits .300 the homers will come along with the RBI.
Beltran stole 18 bases and said that’s a number he’d like to improve on.

Hey John, Milledge showed up to camp today, which means he showed up early. Guess that’s not “early enough” for all the haters though. How pathetic.
When is Delgado going to show up?
Hey John – Not here to gloat in the least. Great reporting on Beltran. The thought that this guy is hungrier than he was a year ago has to make other teams feel a little sick to their stomach. If he can come close to repeating last years OPS and add some stolen bases, good grief.
Let’s go Mets.
LASTINGS IS EARLY!!!! Guess we should give him a little credit. No?
John,
I asked a question in the Alomar blog
however
I have another question
more like a request
can you update the option status of our players
Maybe explain the rules to us
I know Adkins is out of options
is anyone else?

To BDID (RE: Milledge reports)
I gave him his props in just a few minutes ago on the blog. He said all the right things today. Believe me, I’m not wishing anything ill towards him.
To Matt (RE: Delgado)
Delgado will be in camp tomorrow. All position players must be in camp tomorrow for physicals.
