Had a nice chat with Tom Glavine this afternoon. He said if he waffles about retirement it will be before making the announcement and not after. He said he won’t pull a Roger Clemens, who told the Yankees during the 2003 season he was done. He’s pitched three years since.
“If I win 15 or 17 games, it might be hard to walk away if I’m pitching that well,’’ Glavine said. “But, I know myself. Once I make up my mind that will be it. I don’t see myself coming back.’’
Glavine said he’s always been honest with himself and will know when he doesn’t have it anymore.

And, do you believe him?
To Max (RE: Glavine)
Just reporting what he said. If he has a good year he’s coming back. When you’re that good at something you just don’t leave. Especially when you’re getting a boatload of bucks to keep playing.
