Had a nice chat with Tom Glavine this afternoon. He said if he waffles about retirement it will be before making the announcement and not after. He said he won’t pull a Roger Clemens, who told the Yankees during the 2003 season he was done. He’s pitched three years since.
“If I win 15 or 17 games, it might be hard to walk away if I’m pitching that well,” Glavine said. “But, I know myself. Once I make up my mind that will be it. I don’t see myself coming back.”
Glavine said he’s always been honest with himself and will know when he doesn’t have it anymore.
