This kid was a Rule V draft pick who basically went from A-ball to the bigs at age 21 -- and in Coors Field, of all places. Even though his 5.09 ERA with the Rockies wasn't all that impressive, he gave up fewer hits than innings pitched, nearly struck out a batter per inning and struck out more than twice as many as he walked. These are all nice indicators, particularly for a 21-yr-old making the jump from A-ball. (His achilles heel with Colorado was the long ball: Eight dingers in 53 innings.)

And he wasn't too shabby last year at AA, either: Less than a hit per inning, striking out almost one per inning and striking out almost twice as many as he walked. This guy might be further along than Burgos.

But, can they get it over the plate?

There is a dearth of power in the rotation.
