Rickey Henderson and Ozzie Virgil Sr., will be in camp later this spring as special instructors. Henderson is the all-time base stealer and Virgil has either played or coached in the majors for 27 years.
Jose Reyes attributed much of his development last year to working with Henderson in spring training. Not only did they work on base running, but Henderson helped Reyes improve his patience at the plate.
Henderson is a 10-time All-Star and the 1990 AL MVP. Virgil played in the majors for the NY and SF Giants, Detroit, Kansas City, Baltimore and Pittsburgh.

Glad Henderson is back.
The Mets ran a lot last year and were successful doing it.
I remember reading how Franco was following him around to learn as well.

To Dave (RE: Henderson)
The Mets were aggressive on the bases last year, but most importantly, I believe his greatest impact was getting Jose Reyes to be more patient at the plate. He still strikes out too much, but there was improvement.
Yeah if Reyes chill’s at the plate and looks to just get on he always has a good day. its chasing the home run that gets him down.
Lets Go Mets Go!
‘He still strikes out too much, but there was improvement.’
His contact rate is excellent. Nowadays, everybody strikes out 100 times, but Reyes doesn’t.
