Hi folks … just rolled into town. Nobody here, but there will be a lot going on tomorrow. It’s a good sign for the Mets players are showing up early. It tells me there’s a hunger from last year, and history tells us many championship teams have their roots out of frustration.
The camp is the same, but there’s some construction going on around town. If you’re looking for a real estate bargain, you’d better hurry.
Very interesting to see the locker set up. The Mets have several banks of lockers, broken down by position. The bank with the starting pitchers has Tom Glavine, John Maine, Oliver Perez, Orlando Hernandez and out of respect, Pedro Martinez. There’s a method to these things. Directly across is the bank of pitchers competing for the fifth spot and the bullpen. Interesting to note Perez’s locker is among the group of presumed starters.
Glavine has the primo spot, on the end closest to the showers. Glavine also has the prime parking spot, the one closest to the entrance. Martinez had it last year.
Time to check into the hotel and get set up. Will talk with you later today, and as was the case during the winter meetings, you can count on regular blog updates from me.
