Greetings all … Monday morning. Coming to you today from Atlanta. Drove down over the weekend to leave my cat with family. She can’t fly and I can’t board her for seven weeks. It’s the long way, but you have to do what you have to do.
Sixteen hours in the car with a whining cat isn’t much fun. But not nearly as bad as sitting next to a crying Yankee fan.
What did I miss over the weekend? Oh yes, Chan Ho Park. Waiting for them to sign Fernando Valenzuela between now and when pitchers and catchers report Wednesday.
Before I left I had a chance to see the construction site that will be the new ball park. There is a stairway and some cement pilings, but nothing that if you looked at it for the first time could tell that there’s going to be a ballpark there.
I’m anxious to get going. It figures to be an interesting summer covering your team. Their pitching questions notwithstanding, I expect them to get back to the playoffs again.
Will talk with you later today about the issues and questions I see facing the Mets this year. As always, looking forward to reading your responses. Take care.
