I’ve covered baseball for 16 years and have had my share of flight delays and cancellations. According to my intinerary, I should have been home last night.
I’m in Detroit. Delayed last night until I missed connection and had to spend another night in Orlando. Missed connection this morning here and won’t get home until tonight. Since “it’s not our fault,’’ there is no sense of wanting to put me on another carrier. Not a whole lot of cooperation from the airlines, but then again, I wasn’t expecting much. Pleased to have a loaded iPod and DVDs of the first season of Hogan’s Heroes. Mick Jagger and Sgt. Schultz have kept me busy in between phone calls to agents.
Willie Randolph visited a couple of hospitals in the city, but no word yet on if Barry Zito plans to take a bite out of the Big Apple.

Too bad you couldnt use “Rule 240” to get you out of Detroit….safe travels and thanks again for all your hard work this week…..you’ve made this blog a “must read” for me!

We’ve just learned that Barry Zito will be in New York toward the end of next week in order to honor early week commitments to his charity in California.

Thanks for the tip … Very interesting …. think while he’s in town he might stop by Shea?
JB …
Thanks for your kind words … I appreciate you reading. ... Just walked in the door, 23 hours and 35 minutes after I was supposed to land last night.
Hope you enjoyed Detroit. It’s just like Cleveland…but without all the glitter.
To BennyAyala …
I was in the airport so long I could have voted.
