So much for the Mets offering arbitration for Roberto Hernandez. The 42-year-old was signed to a $3.5 million, one-year contract with an option for 2008, which is more than what he would have gotten from the Mets. Hernandez has 326 career saves, 10th highest in history.

so basically the mid season trade of xavier nady netted us oliver perez, and what could be two fairly solid draft picks. Omar minaya, yeah hes good
That trade was made to fill what was a present need at that time. We needed bullpen help without Sanchez. I will point out that Perez’s arm was far more valuable against the Cardinals than another bat would have been.
I guess Omar feels he can get similar production for far less $$. However, as last year proved, there are always middle relievers available during the season.
To Dan …
That’s what the trade boiled down to. If Perez is the real deal, a solid lefty starter is more valuable than Nady would have been.
To Raincntry …
You are correct when you say middle relievers can always be had. I liked Chad Bradford, but as others have posted here, the likes of him can be found elsewhere.
