The Mets could announce Moises Alou today. If they can get the same numbers next year they would take it, but they could probably get them for a lot less than the reported $8 million. Then again, who is to say they couldn’t get those numbers if Endy Chavez played full time? If they get Alou, then we know Lastings Milledge isn’t long for here.
And, to think, they might already have Barry Zito if they traded him. Omar Minaya has made a lot of good moves, but overrating Milledge was a bad decision.
As far as Glavine, he does owe the Mets a decision. This has dragged on much too long. But, don’t think they’ll snap up Zito now and leave Glavine hanging. Scott Boras will drag Zito on. Maybe into January. He wants six years, but Zito isn’t worth that.

It’s a tad unfair to say Milledge has been overrated when his rookie numbers compare favorably to Andruw Jones and Carl Crawford. Just because you don’t like the guy, doesn’t mean he won’t be a good player.

Never said he wouldn’t be a good player. Just said he didn’t play to the expectations and needs an attitude adjustment. He’s not a five-tool guy. He’s not the blazer one might think and showed an erratic arm and defense. I mention those, because they should be apparent regardless of the level. It’s too soon to call on his hitting and ability to hit with power.
