Mets reliever Guillermo Mota was suspended today for violating MLB’s toughened drug policy. Here’s what this all means:
- First and foremost, it means Mota is an idiot of the first degree.
- He sits for the first 50 games, NOT DAYS, next year, with whatever team signs him.
- Despite the suspension, Mota can still go through the free-agent process. He filed Monday.
- The Mets have not said whether they are still interested, however, knowing they won’t have him for the first third of the season, they obviously have to be thinking about a reliever. All of a sudden, Roberto Hernandez could be looked at differently.
