Your team is conducting organizational meetings this week. Omar and staff talked all day yesterday and are again meeting today. They are in a mode of figuring out what to do _ actually they are prioritizing, because they already know.
Priority one is re-signing Tom Glavine, who has a player option for a $7.5 million buyout that must be exercised by Nov. 10 and a team option for $14 million with a Nov. 20 deadline. I wouldn’t worry too much about the deadlines because they can be extended b mutual agreement between the parties. This isn’t a MLB deadline with no flexibility.
Other items of business are:
* Retaining the bullpen: Chad Bradford and Guillermo Mota they’ll try to keep; they’ll live without Darren Oliver and Roberto Hernandez.
* Orlando Hernandez: Like Glavine, they need a veteran presence.
* Jose Valentin: He wants assurances of starting, which he won’t get. They could make a run at Julio Lugo.
* Willie Randolph: What do you think … maybe is Willie wins Manager of the Year they’ll announce it then.
