If you are the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, how come you aren’t screaming today? If you think Kenny Rogers cheated, then you go after him and try to get him thrown out of the game, or put the game under protest, or do something. You don’t become a wimp.
Remember the line in The Sting where Robert Shaw said something like, “I can’t call them for cheating better than me.’’
Maybe Tony La Russa isn’t screaming cheating because he has something to hide, too. Afterall, he was the manager of Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Maybe he knows something about them. There’s already been reports on Albert Pujols. Maybe La Russa doesn’t want people digging too deep.
And, Bud? What is Selig saying? Not much. They got their labor deal done. That’s bucks for everybody. No need to bother with such little things like integrity in the World Series.
