Joe Girardi said no to Washington today, which is probably a good thing. At least it could be to Mets’ third base coach Manny Acta. He’ll interview there as well as San Francisco. He’s already talked to Texas.
To get his first job, Acta won’t be picky on the location. When it was pointed out to him during the NLCS that San Francisco isn’t close to his home in Florida, Acta said he’d interview in Anchorage if Alaska had a team. This openings are few, so it doesn’t pay to be too particular.
The fact is, each of teams Acta is interviewing with is flawed. It stands to reason. If they weren’t they wouldn’t have an opening.
ON THE NEGATIVE
San Francisco: There’s the Bonds factor.
Texas: There’s no pitching.
Washington: Horrible stadium. Soriano’s status is up in the air. Flawed pitching.
ON THE POSITIVE
San Francisco: Great park, great city, weak division makes competing easier.
Texas: Plenty of offense. In a winnable division.
Washington: There’s some young talent here, led by Zimmerman.
