Just got a call from a friend of mine who posed this interesting thought: What if it had been A-Rod taking the called third strike instead of Carlos Beltran?
Well, for one thing they wouldn’t have to bother with demo costs for tearing down Yankee Stadium. Had Rodriguez took a called third strike to end a ALCS Game 7 for the Yankees, they’d still be booing.
Beltran has taken some criticism, but it’s unwarranted. He was froze by a great pitch. By the time he recognized that he had to swing it would have been a weak swinging strike out.
It happens.
To be fair, the Mets had so many chances earlier in the game, and at different points in the NLCS, that had they come through, it never would have come down to that.

like bases loaded one out i think?
could get a fly ball to score from third.
To Anon …
Willie Randolph said today he thinks more about the sixth inning than the ninth as a blown opportunity.
They left a small village on base during the series.
