Willie Randolph made a point to say prior to the game it was important for Oliver Perez to pitch out of early jams because it would help him get settled. It wasn’t Perez’s fault when Carlos Delgado dropped Albert Pujols’ pop-up.
With Pujols at second, who couldn’t envision something bad happening? Perez didn’t let it get to him and that’s a good sign. It’s also a good sign David Wright came through in the bottom of the inning with a RBI single.
