We’re inside of an hour before first pitch. The buzz isn’t there, yet, mostly because Shea is half empty. The video board is running Met quotes talking about the fan support. Only a slight response when the quotes are posted. It’s like they want to get the crowd going. It’s not working. Neither is playing The Who cranked up.
And, of all songs, couldn’t they have picked one without a built in punch line. “Won’t Get Fooled Again.’’ There’s a lot going on there, especially if the Mets do a header tonight.
People aren’t stupid. They don’t need to be told to cheer and when to make noise. Score some runs and this place will be plenty loud without any prompting.

Aside from the fans showing up, it would be nice of David Wright would show up tonite too. He’s been absent all series. If they lose tonite, I’d have to put him in the ARod category of someone that has a LOT to prove in terms of being a clutch guy
JK,
Wright has done it all season.
Has A-Rod?
Yes. Our 3rd base has disappointed. But this is his first full season. His first post season.
Do I need to say more?
Dave
It wasn’t his first full season…it’s his 2nd. And I dont buy the “His first post season” excuse…it was Delgado’s first too…and in Beltran’s first postseason a couple yrs ago, he did pretty well too. The guy needs to show up and it’s really as simple as that. I have higher expectations out for someone like him and he’s really dissapointed me.
cmon…people go through slumps…
remember Delgado did it, Beltran did it, and so did Wright…unlunky hes going thru one now…
The Mets pitching is on life support and they need a jump start from the offense… I’m looking for rebound games from Wright,Chavez and Reyes.
And a few bad breaks for the Red Birds!!!
You got it from Reyes. Wright can do it tomorrow night. Man does Wagner make me nervous!!!
oh wow…Wagner…2 runs…ayyy…hes scaring me!
keep it up boys…
Ya Gotta Believe!
Game 7, top of the 9th, 2 outs, Mets up by 1, Pujols up with a man on, Wagner on the mound..?!?!?!?!?!?
RMK,
It is his second season, but his first full season.
Don’t even talk about Delgado. He has been around for over a decade and is a consumate pro.
I agree that Wright has been a major disappointment this post season. But to say a guy who has done it all season ( and yes in clutch situations ) is a choker like the joker in the Bronx is a bit much.
You are right, we need him to step up. But he is a baby. Give him time to grow up and learn to handle it.
You sound like those reporters post game who kept trying to get Maine to admit he was a nervous wreck and had no biz pitching tonight.
Dave
Dave,
Wright came up mid-2004. His first full season was last year. This is his second.
Terrie,
Oops. you are right :)
but you get my point. comparing a 10 year vet to someone with one or 2 years is not fair.
The general point – that he is a pivotal player and needs to play better I think we all agree on.
