I remember talking with Roger Clemens, and him saying one of the most important thing for a pitcher to do is hold the opposition scoreless in the inning AFTER your team gets you some runs. Oliver Perez didn’t do it in the third, but he has to do it now.
And, giving up a homer to David Eckstein is not the way to start.
You’ve just seen why Perez is an enigma: Eckstein goes deep on him, but he goes 1-2-3 the rest of the inning, including punching out Albert Pujols.
