Just up from the field after watching the Mets take BP. Cardinals are hitting now. Game still a little less than two hours away. Passing some nuggets your way:
- The Mets were denied a chance to modify their roster after Wednesday’s rainout. “It is what it is,’’ manager Willie Randolph said. “We deal with what we have.’’ They would have liked to have gone with another pitcher to keep Tom Glavine from possibly starting Game 5 on short rest.
- After saying they wouldn’t, Cardinals will now go with Chris Carpenter tomorrow in Game 2.
- Randolph said the rainout won’t alter his pitching plans. John Maine tomorrow and Steve Trachsel Saturday in St. Louis.
Here’s the Mets’ lineup for tonight:
SS Jose Reyes
C Paul Lo Duca
CF Carlos Beltran
1B Carlos Delgado
3B David Wright
LF Cliff Floyd
RF Shawn Green
2B Jose Valentin
