I can understand the gamble in going with Cliff Floyd on the NLCS roster, but I would have kept the 12 pitchers and gambled on not having Anderson Hernandez. I’ll say it now instead of waiting for after the fact.
Player intros: Nice ovations for Orlando Hernandez and Pedro Martinez. Also, classy moment of silence for Cory Lidle and Buck O’Neil.

The Yankee season is over so I am reduced to rooting for Jeff Weaver. Ugh. Pete Abe spoiled us with the Yankee blog. I’ll be checking in here to see what the Metsies are up to.
Just remember, if Joe Torre taught Willie how to manage, the Mets are in BIG trouble.

Yeah, you’re probably right. What could Randolph possibly have learned from Torre, who had the Yankees in the playoffs every year since 96 and won four rings?
im dissapointed in willie if for no other reason that he may have been loyal to a fault to cliff. Now maybe cliff made assurances to willie and staff,i dont know, but floyd being out could really hamstring the team. Oh well, what can you do at this point?
Willie never batted Beltran 8th, even when he slumped.
jk,
Go back to the Yank blog please.

For some reason, the Mets had a blind spot with Floyd. During the season it was the same way. They kept waiting for him until it was obvious he couldn’t play. I have a low patience threshhold when it comes to injuries. Better to put the player on the shelf and not wait. Especially with things like hamstrings and sprains. They always take longer to heal than expected.
The Mets got away with it during the season because of their lead. The stakes are higher now.
