We’ve been waiting for several hours now for word on Orlando Hernandez’s right calf and this is what Mets PR chief Jay Horwitz just hit us with: “He had a MRI and it showed an injury to the right calf. A decision will be made in the morning.”
The Mets said they don’t anticipate making another announcement tonight.
If Hernandez says he can go, he’ll go. If not, then the Mets will choose between John Maine or Tom Glavine. Actually, this could work out to the Mets’ benefit. It’s not that the Dodgers don’t have scouting reports on all three, but making them wait it out couldn’t hurt.
If nothing else, it could take pressure off Maine and not give him a night to think about it.
