When Oliver Perez pitches the talk fast-forwards to the future. With five strikeouts tonight, he has 37 in 32 2/3 innings in six starts, a ratio that puts him on their spring training radar.
However, they lost again, and that’s six of eight since clinching last Monday.

Just as winning is contagious, so is losing, and with a few more like last night _ 12-0 to the Braves _ the Mets would be entering the playoffs trying to turn it back on again.
“We have to start playing better,’’ Carlos Delgado said.

last nights game got under my skin! I sw some plays in the outfield that were less than exuberant.

To listen to Willie, he forgot about the game before he even left the dugout. Willie said he doesn’t believe a team can turn it on and turn it off, but that’s what the Mets might have to do pretty soon.

You got that right. It’s hard to snap out of losing streaks in the first round of the playoffs, especially since the opponent is pretty good, and if it is a wild card, that team usually has momentum.
