Tom Glavine pitched eight innings in his fourth start since the circulatory problem in his shoulder in beating Florida, 3-2, tonight. The Mets played their bench, which is customary after clinching, but the big picture is Glavine.
“To me, it’s more about pitch count,” said Glavine who threw 103. “I was more economical with my pitches and that enabled me to go deeper in the game.”
Yeah, it’s a nice story that the Mets won with their reserves, but getting Glavine back to form is a huge step. Getting Pedro Martinez back would be another.
