Had the night off … got home from the movies and saw I didn’t miss much. Four hits isn’t going to get it done. John Maine had a reality check. I wonder if this will cool the talk about Steve Trachsel not making the playoff roster. Of course, not if he gets lit up this weekend.
Saw “Invinceable.’’ The Vince Papale story. Well done, and the football scenes looked realistic enough. Not quite “Rocky’’ or “Rudy’’ or “Hoosiers’’ as far as tugging at your heart strings, but good. Let’s put it this way, if I’m channel surfing one night five years from now I’ll probably leave it there.
By the way, the Giants lost to the Eagles in the movie.
Will talk to you all later … have a good night.

Hi John –
I was able to watch the Mets on ESPN last night as there was no blackout. Some observations.
Pedro put on quite a show for the TV, smiling etc. Is this for real or is he acting to cover up some problems?
David Wright looks exhausted. Has he had any time off? Maybe he’s the one who needs a night out at the movies.
Jose Reyes exuberance scares me – I’d hate to see his post season ruined by another injury from headfirst sliding or a fall from speeding around the infield.
I continue to be amazed at the composure and serenity exhibited by Willie Randolph while presiding over a team which is doing extraordinary things. What’s his secret?
Still think Trachsel should be placed on the playoff roster? His ERA speaks for itself and performances like today give me no reason to have an ounce of confidence in this guy.
Randolph is just okay….just glad every other manager in the NL is terrible with tactical skills
