Greetings all …
Tarp is on the field and it has the makings of a long night at Shea. Even worse, of course, would be a doubleheader tomorrow. Regular doubleheaders are fine. The day-night stuff I can do without.
Interesting drive in across the Whitestone. Are you familiar with those signs on the bridges giving you a number to call if you see something suspicious? Well, somebody let me cut in front of him. And, with no middle finger greeting, either. Highly unusual.
Today the call-ups arrived. Some of them, anyway. Dave Williams (who’ll start tonight), Brian Bannister, Phil Humber and Lastings Milledge. No Mike Pelfrey, which is kind of odd. Mets will go into a six-man rotation down the stretch, so we’ll see Bannister and Williams. Tomorrow we get Oliver Perez.
Thinking they might sit Carlos Beltran another day because of the wet turf. Will know soon enough. Will check in with lineups later.
