The Mets and Phillies were washed away today. They’ll make it up tomorrow, then travel to Denver for three with the Rockies and on to Houston. Both have fading wild-card aspirations.
Steve Trachsel and Dave Williams get the first two games at Colorado, but Thursday and next weekend’s series at Houston is wide open. Thursday could go to lefthander Oliver Perez, who made his Mets’ debut Saturday, giving up five runs in five innings against Philadelphia.
Tom Glavine could start Friday at Houston. Glavine, who hasn’t pitched since August 16 at Philadelphia,
threw off the mound Saturday and will likely throw again Tuesday at Colorado. Orlando Hernandez was scratched from last Friday’s start with a tired arm. He played catch today and it is conceivable he might not start until next weekend.
Meanwhile, Pedro Martinez is eligible to come of the disabled list Wednesday (strained right calf), but manager Willie Randolph said there were no assurances he would.

Pelfrey just came off the disabled list and was on a pitch count for Norfolk. He allowed one hit in three scoreless innings against Richmond.

Pelfrey should be back up here when the rosters expand on Sept. 1.
