How ironic. Just last week I spoke with Tom Glavine about possibly losing Pedro Martinez for the season and he said “I would like to believe we have a team that can survive the loss of one player.” Now, they might have to get by without him.
We don’t know yet about Martinez and don’t know about Glavine, but if they lose both their chances in October won’t be good. Right now, it’s all speculation.
All this makes me wonder back to the trade deadline. Even though they looked in good shape, I still would have traded Lastings Milledge for Barry Zito. I would have, because you never know when you’re going to get this close again.
Brian Heyman covered the Mets for us today and will have all the Glavine story for you in The Journal News and on lohud.com
